the peacock family … [portraits]

Way back in Christmas 2009, we ran a competition. The prize was a portrait session, anywhere in Australia, and to win, you had to warm our hearts with your story.

One of the winners was the Peacock family, who live near Toowoomba in Queensland.

Since 2006, Sharron has been battling with thyroid cancer, lupus, deep vein thrombosis, melanoma and a bunch of related health problems. Even now, she faces ever-changing treatments with uncertain side-effects, pain, immobility and many other struggles.

Together with their 3 children, Sharron and Josh have faced these constant setbacks with courage and grace that is difficult to imagine. And I haven’t even mentioned their temporary homelessness in 2009!

Luckily, they were spared the worst of the flood that just hit Toowoomba, but it still made a mess of their house.

The hits just keep on coming, it seems 🙁

It was an honour to meet the Peacock family in May last year. We took these photos around their home. I have a sneaking suspicion that not even a flood could wash those smiles away! 🙂

Thanks for letting me visit, guys. You remain in our thoughts and prayers.
